Dr. Cheryl L. Held is originally from Northern California. She made her way to Missouri where she has worked in her own private practice since 2004, and she is excited to add her expertise to the Lindbergh Orthodontics Team.
Prior to becoming an orthodontic assistant and then, an orthodontist, Dr. Held worked at The Harker School Summer Camp in California for ten consecutive summers. It was here where Dr. Held determined that orthodontics would be a career in which she would be passionate — helping people, working with children and adults, being challenged, using science and math, and working puzzles.
After attending the University of California at Davis and earning her Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Held attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. At Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education, she earned her Master of Science degree in orthodontics.
In 2013, Dr. Held married her amazing husband, Marty. They have been on this life adventure together since 1992.
Dr. Held’s goal for the patient experience is wowing her patients! She & the Lindbergh Orthodontics team are here to create a fun treatment process and an exquisite result.
During her free time, Dr. Held loves to spend time with her husband: watching movies, following Cardinals baseball and 49ers football, participating in community events, playing games, flying kites, and relaxing. She also enjoys singing, exercising, music, and collecting spoons.
Dr. Octavio Garcia brings a rare combination of medical and dental training to his work as an orthodontist. He earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and his dental degree from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry before completing his orthodontics residency at the Georgia School of Orthodontics. He graduated dental school in 2023.
Dr. Garcia chose orthodontics because it lets him draw on his medical, dental, and orthodontic training all at once to improve people’s lives. He’s drawn to the problem-solving side of the specialty — using technology to correct bite function, aesthetics, and airway health — and to the deeper impact that a healthy, confident smile can have. He’s seen how orthodontic care can help prevent kids from being bullied, give people the confidence to smile in photos and speak freely in conversation, and open doors socially and professionally. It’s a mission he understands personally, having been an orthodontic patient himself for the past two years.
What Dr. Garcia loves most about his work is witnessing the transformation each patient goes through — from their initial smile to their ideal one — and sharing in the joy of the day their braces come off. His goal for every patient is to maximize comfort, communicate clearly at every step, help build lifelong hygiene habits, and deliver a healthy, confident smile with as little stress as possible along the way. He sees orthodontic treatment as a partnership: he brings his expertise, but he asks patients to do their part too — following dietary guidelines, maintaining good hygiene, and wearing rubber bands and retainers as prescribed — since that teamwork is what keeps treatment on track and avoids costly delays.
Dr. Garcia was drawn to St. Louis in part because it’s the historic birthplace of modern orthodontics and a premier city for healthcare, and in part for its unique blend of Midwestern and Southern charm, iconic landmarks, world-class museums, and thriving arts and food scene. He’s proud to bring his skills and perspective to the Lindbergh Orthodontics team.
Outside the office, Dr. Garcia stays active with workouts and runs through the park, and enjoys movies, concerts, museums, comedy shows, sporting events, reading, writing, and traveling. A fun fact: he once ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
